The Great Resignation, Great Employment, and Great Normalization
All things in life move in cycles.
Is anyone still talking about the Great Resignation?
Maybe. And maybe, many more will leave their corporate cubicles to pursue their dreams.
Dreams to be a solopreneur, a content creator making 5-digits a month, or a digital nomad hopping from cafe to cafe.
I hate to tell you this.
BUT.
As with all things in life, our ability to earn depends on how well we perform at the job / side-hustle of our choice.
Of course, you have to experience and experiment to truly understand how the world works.
Side-Hustles That Paid Me Millions in Life Lessons and Next to Nothing in Income
E-books anyone?
I attended a workshop conducted by an E-Book millionaire. He made his fortune by publishing electronic books on Amazon Kindle.
It was a 2-hour workshop packed with invaluable insights. It was invaluable only because it opened my mind to the internet business.
I went away, pumped, and followed the guru’s method, step-by-step.
I hired ghostwriters from Upwork. I recruited visual designers from Fiverr to create aesthetically pleasing front and back covers. I gave the E-Book away via free downloads in exchange for reviews in the first week. I priced that E-Book at $2.99 after the free download period.
And… I earned $0 since publication.
So E-books are out. What about livestream product peddling?
One of my friends gave this a shot. She threw the towel 6 months after.
I know what you are thinking.
She should have persisted! She should have done everything to make this a success!
I know she has given her best shot to build the clothing group-buy business.
Jacqueline spent hours a day speaking to manufacturers securing consignment purchases near cost price. She engaged her friend, Sally, from the distribution business for cheap(er) bulk shipping. She went on FaceBook and Instagram livestreams daily with different clothes.
Her first month’s sales?
2 pieces of t-shirts totaling SGD 60.
Though premature, I have no qualms that the tide will recede for The Resignation, making way for The Employment.
When will that be?
When people run out of money.

Summary
Ray Dalio is right. All things move in cycles.
We believe we are good without our day jobs. We fire our boss. We hustle for peanuts. We realize that peanuts is insufficient to service our bills. We head back to the office.
And then the cycle repeats itself.
In this macro-cycle of life and human society, pretty honestly, nothing has changed.
The job of Bottomsup Perspective is to research, discuss, and share our findings so our community can grow with us.
This topic is one example of sharing our practitionership.
